The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is an independent organisation established to develop and operate the  Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) in order to provide independent assessments of forest management practices in Malaysia as well as to meet the demand for certified timber products.

Timber certification is a market-linked tool to promote and encourage sustainable forest management as well as to provide an assurance to buyers that the timber products they buy come from sustainably managed forests.

The Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) has become the first tropical timber certification scheme in the Asia Pacific region, and the second in the world after the Gabonese Forest Certification Scheme, to be endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC).  more

Further to our earlier announcement regarding the above matter, this is to inform all stakeholders that we are now at the halfway mark for the review of the MC&I(2002) based on the first 60-day public comment period which has commenced on 1 April and will end on 31 May 2009.  more

The Thirty Ninth Meeting of the MTCC Board of Trustees held on 17 February 2009 has adopted the MC&I(Forest Plantations) as the standard for the certification of forest plantations under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS).  more

The MTCC wishes to inform that the 39th Meeting of the MTCC Board of Trustees held on 17 February 2009 has approved the adoption of the technical document DRP 1/2009 entitled Dispute Resolution Procedures, as the procedures for dealing with complaints, appeals and other disputes related to the operation of the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS).  more

The Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Forest Management Certification [MC&I(2002] which is the standard used for forest management certification under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS), operated by MTCC since October 2005, is due for its first review in 2009.  more
