Seven Forest Management Units (FMUs) and 24 timber companies holding the MTCC certificates have been accepted under the Keurhout Protocol for Legal Origin (KH-LET) in The Netherlands (as at February 2006).  With this acceptance, MTCC-certified timber products originating from these FMUs and exported by these companies are allowed to carry the Keurhout Legal Timber logo.

The KH-LET includes three main aspects which require validation, i.e. (i) the requirements regarding the third party certifier; (ii) the assessment scheme; and (iii) the standard.  The KH-LET only accepts timber products containing 100% certified materials. 

Of the 24 Chain-of-Custody Certificate holders, 12 have been fully admitted while the other 12 have been partly admitted to the KH-LET system, meaning that only part of the MTCC-certified timber exported by these 12 companies has been recognised as KH-LET timber.

MTCC is in the process of submitting the assessment / surveillance reports of more certificate holders for the consideration by the Keurhout Board of Experts and is optimistic that more MTCC certificate holders will be accepted under the KH-LET.
