DANISH COMPANY NEPCon BECOMES  FIRST OVERSEAS-BASED ASSESSOR TO BE REGISTERED WITH MTCC

MTCC had in 2004 amended its procedures to allow applications for the registration of overseas-based assessors under its timber certification scheme. Following this development, MTCC has recently approved the registration of NEPCon (Nature, Ecology and People Consult), a company based in Denmark as the first overseas-based independent assessor for chain-of-custody certification.

By the end of 2005, 83 timber companies have been awarded the MTCC Certificate for Chain-of-Custody. Over the years, the export of MTCC-certified timber products has increased to more destinations in Europe.  By the end of December 2005, a total of 55,400 m3 of MTCC-certified sawn timber, mouldings, laminated finger-jointed timber and plywood has been exported to The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Greece, Denmark, Poland and Italy. MTCC-certified sawn timber has been exported to Denmark since August 2005.
