This is to inform all stakeholders that the 15-member Standards Review Committee  (SRC) comprising representatives from stakeholder groups, i.e. environmental, social, economic and relevant government agencies, nominated by the respective stakeholder groups in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, has been formed and will be responsible for the conduct of the first review of the Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Forest Management Certification or in short MC&I(2002).  This review is in line with international practice that the certification standard used is to be reviewed at least every five years to ensure continuous improvement.

The SRC held its first meeting on 29-30 October 2009 to deliberate on the comments received from the First Public Comment on the MC&I(2002) [conducted from 1 April – 31 May 2009], as well as from other sources, i.e. the PEFC endorsement of the MTCS, the MTCC-Hamburg project, as well as consideration of the ILO Core Conventions by PEFC. 

For more information related to the review of the MC&I(2002), all stakeholders are encouraged to contact the Member/Alternate Member of their stakeholder group in their respective region or the SRC Secretariat. Contact details of the Members/Alternate Members of the SRC and the SRC Secretariat are as shown in Table 1.
