The Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is organizing a Seminar on Forest Management and Timber Certification in Malaysia to highlight the current status of forest management practices and the challenges faced by the forest managers in the three regions of Malaysia (i.e. Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak) in trying to achieve sustainable forest management (SFM). The seminar will also highlight the development and current status of the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) in helping to ensure that Malaysia’s forests resources are sustainably managed. This Seminar will feature presentations by speakers from the respective forestry departments of the three regions and MTCC.

This seminar is organised in conjunction with the Malaysia International Commodity Conference and Showcase (MICCOS 2009) which is a biennial event organised by the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) with the support of its related agencies to showcase the development in the commodity sector and to bring together the major industry players and entrepreneurs scheduled to be held on 13 - 16 August 2009 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Academicians, researchers, undergraduates, secondary school students and the general public with interest in forest management including the environmental and social aspects, forest and chain-of-custody certification.
